Accommodation

Hotels and housing goes fast and is limited- book early to avoid disappointment!

Imperial College opens its student halls of residence to the public during the summer, providing great value bed and breakfast accommodation in central London. More information about bookings and location can be found here.


Travel

There are various options for travelling to and from Imperial College; a few of which are detailed below. For more information, visit our Venue page or use your preferred app/website to plan routes. We recommend the Citymapper app as a useful tool to plan your journeys. Traffic and service of tube lines are variable, so please check in advance such that you don’t miss out!

Car

 

Travelling by Car & Parking

Please be advised that it is quicker and easier to travel to South Kensington via public transport and that we are within the congestion charging zone. Car parking at the South Kensington campus is severely restricted and you are advised NOT to bring a car unless permission has been given. After 6pm, at weekends and during vacations the car park is open to the paying public. Parking in the streets surrounding the College is at pay and display or parking meters for limited periods only.

 

Bus

 

Travelling by Bus

Buses 9, 10, 52, 360, 14, 49, 70, 74, 345, 414 and C1 all stop near Imperial College London.  To plan your bus route, use the Transport for London journey planner.

 

Train

 

Travelling by Train

To plan your train journey to London you can use National Rail Enquiries.

There are a number mainline rail stations with convenient tube links to Imperial College. To plan your travel from the mainline terminals in central London use the Transport for London journey planner.

St Pancras International – Eurostar

You can reach St Pancras International Station easily by public transport from South Kensington Station. For more information on travelling on the Eurostar, contact National Rail Enquiries on 0845 7484950.

 

Travelling by Tube

You can plan your tube journey and buy travel cards online using the Transport for London website.

South Kensington Station (0.4 miles)

Lines: Circle, District

From South Kensington station, the campus is only five minutes’ walk. Either follow the subway signposted to the museums or walk north up Exhibition Road. The College is next to the Science Museum.

Gloucester Road (0.5 miles)

Lines: Circle, District

From Gloucester Road station, walk north till you reach Cromwell Road. Take a right and walk straight until you reach Queen’s Gate, where you take a left. Walk down Queen’s Gate till you reach Imperial College Road on the right hand side.

 

Bicycle

 

Travelling by Bicycle

There are many cycle routes across Greater London. To plan the best route for you to get to Imperial College London visit the Transport for London cycle website.

 

Boat

 

TRAVELLING BY Sea

Take a British Rail train from the port of entry to London (Harwich to London journey time 1hr 30 mins; Dover to London journey time 2hrs) and then travel by Underground train to South Kensington station.

 

Plane

 

Travelling by Plane

It will take you an hour or more to reach Imperial College on public transport from any of London’s airports.

Travelling from Heathrow Airport

Approximate journey time: 1 hour

Take the tube to South Kensington on the Piccadilly Line.

Alternatively take the Heathrow Express to Paddington, and then take the Circle Line tube to South Kensington.

Travelling from Gatwick Airport

Approximate journey time: 1 hour

Take the Gatwick Express or Southern to Victoria Railway Station, then take the Circle or District line to South Kensington.

Travelling from Stansted Airport

Approximate journey time: 1.5 hours

Take the Greater Anglia train to Tottenham Hale then take the Victoria Line to Green Park before changing to the Piccadilly line to South Kensington. Alternatively, take the Greater Anglia train to London Liverpool Street Station, then take the Circle line to South Kensington

Travelling from London City Airport

Approximate journey time: 1 hour

Take the DLR line to Canning Town, then change to the Jubilee Line to Westminster. Then take the District or Circle Line to South Kensington

Travelling from Luton Airport

Approximate journey time: 1.5 hours

Check services into Central London using National Rail Enquiries, then take the Tube to South Kensington. You can plan your tube journey and buy travel cards online using the Transport for London website.
